Wondering

I stop and wonder at the sea
Her moods shroud her in mystery,
The dancing wave – a happy sight,
The heaving swell – what untold might,
The serene calm, such peace doth bring
The lashing spray – a vipers sting!

I Stop and wonder at the faces
I see in everyday places.
The merry child – oh! What delight.
The heavy brow – an uncouth sight.
The gentlemaid, so pure, so coy,
The sneering glance – can souls destroy.

I stop and wonder, can it be
That we are then as the sea?
What hidden depths can we unfold of soul and mind
What treasured calm and heartfelft ease can we find?
By just a look – a trifling thing,
Do we, to others, peace or unrest bring?
